Task: Fabricated W-818 aileron pushrods and
match drilled wing walk skin.
Today I fabricated the two W-818 aileron pushrods and riveted
the rod-ends to the steel tubing. I then inserted the end
bearings and set the length from center of each bearing.
There is a brass bushing that fits inside the steel tube which
has 2 rivets to secure it in place. The threaded female rod-end
bearing is then screwed in with a jam nut in place.
I also match drilled the W-727 wing walk doublers. I had to
cut the 0.32 to dimensions of 26" x 9 3/8". I then
measured from the top of the W-702 skin down 9/16" and
secured the W-727 in place with tape. It held just fine while
I match drilled the holes for the three inboard ribs. This
area must be reinforced as its where the pilot/copilot will
enter/exit the cabin.
