Task: Worked on seat backs

Today I worked on the two seat backs. While they are pretty straigh tforward. there are a lot of holes to measure and drill. It would have been a lot easier if the seat backs were punched already.

I first measured and drilled the top and bottom 4 holes on each F-637A seatback. I then clamped the F-637B angles onto each side and drilled them to the seatback. The holes inboard of about 6" were more difficult since my calipers didn't extend that far out. I used the approx. dimension called out in the plans (5/16" from the radius) to mark the location for each of the 2 holes on either side of the inner bends. I then drilled the seatback and then matchdrilled the F-637B angle.

Once one F-637B angle was drilled to the seatback I could clamp it to the opposite one and match-drill. This method worked very well. I then clamped that angle to the seatback and match drilled the seat back. I repeated this method for the other seatback.

Both seatbacks have been drilled to the F-637B angles.

Next I cut two pieces of AN257-P3 hinge 15.5" long for the upper seatback support. I measured and drilled per DWG 30.

Next I match-drilled the hinge to the F-638-L seat back brace.

Rinse, lather, repeat for the right one.

Lastly I match drilled the other side of the hinge to the F-637A seatbacks.
